CENSUS NOW RECRUITING CLOSE TO 300 FIELD WORKERS
The American Samoa Department of Commerce – 2020 Census Office is now recruiting interested applicants for FIELD POSITIONS to help conduct the 2020 Census. The field positions (i.e. Crew Leader, Crew Leader Assistant, and Enumerator) are temporary, part-time, and work shifts will vary from day and evenings. Field workers will be responsible for going to different villages, recording living quarters, and conducting in-person interviews of the population. There are close to 300 available slots.
Current private sector employees and those who are unemployed, who are interested in field positions are encouraged to visit the American Samoa Government (ASG) Department of Human Resources to pick up and submit an employment application and Census supplemental form.
Current ASG employees who are interested in field work, can also pick up and submit a Census supplemental form at the ASG Department of Human Resources. They do not need to submit an ASG employment application.
Interested applicants in Manu’a can pick up and submit a Census supplemental form to the Department of Commerce offices in Ofu and Ta’u island.
Interested applicants will be required to take an evaluation test and will be informed of the date and location once it has been confirmed. Candidates that pass the test will be interviewed and selections made until all positions are filled. All selected applicants must complete a background check.

Notice of Public Invitation to Comment on the American Samoa Government
Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER)
Program Year 2018
Notice is Hereby Given that the American Samoa Government will submit a Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) for Program Year 2018 to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) before September 30, 2019.
The CAPER is an annual report that describes the use of the following Community Planning and Development (CPD) Programs funded by HUD: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) grant.
Citizens and interested parties are invited to review a draft copy of the CAPER. The draft is available for public review and comment(s) from September 13, 2019 to September 30, 2019 at the Department of Commerce during office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The public has fifteen (15) days to comment on the proposed CAPER draft. All comments must be submitted in writing to the CPD Coordinator by letter or email to peti.matila@doc.as. A summary of public comments received will be included in the CAPER submitted to HUD.
